Featured performing groups include the sixth, sixth and eighthgrade bands, as well as the Middle School Jazz Ensemble.

The Sixth Grade Band will open the program with Brian Balmage’s “Midnight Mission.” a John Higgin’s arrangement of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”, and “Samba La Bamba” by William Owens.

The Seventh Grade Band will continue the performance with “Train Heading West and Other Outdoor Scenes” by Timothy Broege, “Skye Boat Song” arranged by John O’Reilly and “Do- Re-Mi” from The Sound of Music arranged by Paul Lavender.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform “Que Pasa, Kielbasa?” by Fred Sturm and feature many students on improvised solos.

The Eighth Grade Band will close the performance with Pierre La Plante’s “A March on the King’s Highway,” “Salvation Is Created” by Pavel Chesnokov, Robert Sheldon’s “A Lantern in the Window” and the premier performance of “Chroma Mosaic” by Asha Srinivasan.

“Chroma Mosaic” is the culmination of our Mission to Commission project, an educational opportunity for yearlong creativity, communication and collaboration for two middle school band programs as students began writing their own music.

It was also an effort to secure world class composer, Asha Srinivasan, to work directly with young band students from Sheboygan Falls Middle School and CS Porter Middle School in Missoula, Mont.

The Sheboygan Falls Middle School Eighth Grade Band would like to thank the Kohler Foundation for their generous financial support of our Mission to Commission project.

The SFMS Instrumental Music Department would like to thank the Sheboygan Falls School District Board of Education, administration, faculty and staff for their encouragement and support throughout the entire project.

The Sheboygan Falls Middle School ensembles are under the direction of Carrie Winkler.

The performance is open to the public at no charge.
