Artists win UW-S aid

A wide selection of artworks from local aspiring student artists from several area high schools are showcased in the 2015 University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Art Department annual High School Student Art Scholarship Competition.

Participating high school seniors submitted works in hopes of netting a scholarship to help defray tuition costs to attend UWSheboygan.

All area high school students were welcomed to participate and compete for scholarships provided by the UW-Sheboygan Foundation.

Drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, metalsmithing, illustration and graphic design artworks were accepted for the competition.

All area art students are encouraged to enter pieces in this competition each year, even if they have already committed to another college or university.

Those student artists receiving scholarships for attending UWSheboygan for the 2015-16 academic year from the UW-Sheboygan Foundation as a result of their entries are:

Marisa Brendel, Sheboygan North; Grace Gagnon, New Holstein; Katharine Grunwald, Howards Grove; and Hailey Lutzke, Sheboygan Falls.
