Conservation club awards presented

At their April 25 Awards Banquet, held at Klemme’s Wagon Wheel Restaurant, the Sheboygan County Conservation Association (SCCA) and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) honored local sportsmen and sportswomen. 168 people applauded the many awards.

Conservation Wardens Kyle J. Drake, Michael Clutter, and Keith Meverden presented WDNR Safety Instructor Awards to: Brian Stine 5 year award, Lisa Ann Haag 5 year award, Matthew Kohlmann 5 year award, James Kroeplien 5 year award, Erik Lorenz 5 year award, Nicholas Gilbertson 10 year award, Bruce Pfeifer 10 year award, Cher Pao Vang10 year award, Dan Gruenke 15 year award, Roy Kalmerton 15 year award, Michael McHenry 15 year award, Michael Mersberger 15 yr award, Peter Nikisch 15 year award, Scott Plocar 15 year award, Torris Torrison 15 year award, Delbert Daehn 30 year award, Richard Horness 35 year award.

WDNR Secretary Cathy Stepp was in attendance and thanked the Safety Instructors for being involved and for their many years of volunteer service. The 17 Safety Instructors have taught snowmobile safety and hunter safety to more than 10, 500 students.

The SCCA presented awards to: Dan Renzelman and Robert Schumacher—Service Recognition Awards, Pat Meyer, John Uttech, Travis Kissel, and Bruce Bruggink – Special Recognition Awards, Senator Devin LeMahieu –Legislator of the Year, Warren

Bohrmueller – Educator of the Year, Muskies Inc Between-the- Lakes Chapter 20 – Club of the Year, Luke Mancl – Youth Conservationist of the Year, Don Pirrung – Conservationist of the Year, Chuck Zorn and Jim Kloppenburg Hall of Fame Awards.

Libby Dorn, Executive Director of Trees for Tomorrow, gave an interesting and informative power point presentation on “The History of Trees for Tomorrow Natural Resources School.”

The SCCA is a 501(c)(3) notfor profit organization, comprised of 28 clubs with more than 2000 members, is dedicated to serve the outdoor community, protect and maintain habitat, and to educate and provide opportunities for all to enjoy the great outdoors.
