Gardeners plan Madison trip

Join Sheboygan County UW-Extension Master Gardeners on a visit to three fabulous gardens Saturday, June 27.

The bus tour features a visit to Olbrich Botanical Gardens and a chance to explore 16 acres of outdoor gardens featuring stunning landscapes and Midwest-hardy plants.

Next will be a visit to the tropics in the Bolz Conservatory to experience exotic plants, flowers, orchids, birds and a waterfall.

The next stop will be the North Parish Gardens to visit their flowering plant nursery and a two-acre Asian inspired home garden. Then, on to The Flower Factory—one of Wisconsin’s premiere hardy plant nurseries featuring an enormous selection of perennials, hostas and ornamental grasses.

The last stop will be the rural garden of Larry and Sarah Conrad outside of Eldorado. Their two intensely-gardened acres have been developed over the past 40 years. Its four-season appeal includes many examples of perennials, hostas, ornamental grasses, flowering trees and shrubs, conifers and alpine plants, punctuated with rustic arbors, fences and rockeries.

The cost of the trip is $32 for Master Gardeners and $42 for others. A bus will depart at 7 a.m. from UW-Sheboygan and will also pick up passengers at the Plymouth Walmart. We will return to Sheboygan at around 7 p.m.

A registration form is available at the Sheboygan County UW-Extension Master Gardeners webpage coming-events/ . For more details contact Sue at 458-1848 or Tammy at the UW-Extension office at 459-5904.
