Tigers’ Bagnall wins CLC tourney title

SAUKVILLE – Sophomore Matt Bagnall of Howards Grove earned medalist honors in Thursday’s Central Lakeshore Conference Boys Golf Tournament at The Bog.

Bagnall shot an 18-hole score of 80 on the par-72 course and finished an impressive six strokes ahead of the second-place score. Sharing second with 86s were Charlie Twohig and Andrew Bryce of Kohler and Avery Clark of Ozaukee.

Kohler ran away with the tourney championship with a score of 355. The first-place finish clinched the CLC overall title for the Blue Bombers. Sheboygan Christian finished second in the tourney with 378.

The HGHS Tigers placed fifth in the tournament with 381. The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters took seventh in the nine-team field with 389 and were led by Brennan Cain and Max Ward who tied for 15th with a 94 totals.

The Resorters’ other low players were Dante Miller with a 95 and Elliot Van Oss, 106.

Also scoring for the Tigers were Collin Meyer with a 99, Layne Gustafson, 100 and Tyler Myzsewski, 102.

“Max played great on the front with a 41 but the back nine really prevented him from having an outstanding score,” said EL-G head coach Bart Larson.

“Brennan was steady and I was impressed with Dante. Kohler deserved the conference championship with their play today. It was a tough course and a great experience for our three freshmen [Ward, Miller and Sam Lutzke] on varsity.”
