Edge, Schaller spark Tigers’ big attack

HOWARDS GROVE – Morgan Edge and Brittany Schaller combined for five goals to power the Howards Grove Tigers to a 6-0 thumping of St. Mary’s Springs (Fond du Lac) in nonconference girls soccer play here Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers improved to 14- 3-2. Edge scored a hat trick and Schaller chipped in with two goals. Zyta Muller tallied the other goal. HGHS outscored the Ledgers 5-0 in the second half.

Emily Schmid paced HGHS in assists with two. Bri Kidder, Schaller, Malayna McDaniel and Katie Guse had one assist each.

HGHS led 13-6 in shots on goal. Tiger goalie Olivia Stauss made six saves. The Ledgers’ goalkeeper Breanna Greene was credited with six.

“Our key tonight was simply getting to the ball first. Our girls played great defense all over the field and kept the pressure on at all times,” said Tiger head coach Kasey Smith.

“Hopefully this scoring can be a springboard for our upcoming games and playoffs that start next week.”
