Resorters ousted in regional finals

OAKFIELD – McKaela Ryan of Oakfield twirled a one-hit shutout as Oakfield cruised past the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters, 10-0, in a Division 4 regional softball championship game here Friday night.

The loss ended the No. 2-seeded Resorters’ season at 13-7. The No. 1-seeded Oaks raised their mark to 23-3.

Ryan walked none and struck out seven in the six-inning game (10-run rule). The lone hit for the Resorters was Rachael Flora’s leadoff single in the top of the second inning.

The Oaks banged out 13 hits, led by Brianna Sabel, Karissa Ryan, McKaela Ryan and Madelyn Ryan with two each. McKaela Ryan had a team-high two RBIs.

Elkhart committed five errors and Oakfield tallied two unearned runs.

Holly Zorn was the losing pitcher. Zorn allowed eight earned runs and three walks to go with zero strikeouts in going the route.

“We battled a very good Oakfield team. I think we played good but you need a perfect game,” said Resorter head coach Brian Feldmann.

“We hit the ball. They made some great plays in the field to take some hits away.

“I’m proud of my girls. They played and battled to the end. There was no quit,” said Feldmann.
