Late outburst lifts Warriors over Elkhart

ELKHART LAKE – The Ozaukee Warriors exploded for nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 4-1 deficit and defeat the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters, 10-6, Monday evening at June Vollrath Park.

The Resorters fell to 1-4 in Central Lakeshore Conference baseball play (2-5 overall). Ozaukee improved to 3-2 in the CLC (3-4 overall).

Mike Richter led the Warriors in RBIs with three, followed by Connor Wichmann and Jered Bares with two each. Ozaukee had nine batters with one hit apiece.

The Resorters banged out 11 hits, led by Nick Miller with three. Elliot Van Oss and Jordan Bahr added two each. Max Kossman had a team-high two RBIs.

Elkhart stole six bases, led by Bahr’s three. Van Oss swiped two bases and scored a team-leading two runs.

Bares was the winning pitcher with a complete game. He allowed four earned runs and three walks while striking out two.

Resorter starting hurler Brennan Cain took the loss. Cain gave up seven runs (all earned) on eight hits with five walks and two strikeouts in 6-2/3 innings. Elkhart pitching allowed eight walks.
