As You See It

To the Editor,

Another setback for the State Hwy 23 project. A group of mass transit loving liberals, mostly from Madison, who call themselves “1000 Friends of Wisconsin” filed a lawsuit in federal court to stop the Hwy 23 project.

A federal judge, former Democrat state senator Lynn Adel- man, could not bring himself to tell that group of busy bodies to buzz off.

Never mind the fact that this project went through all of the environmental hoops required by state and federal agencies.

Never mind the volume of traffic congestion on Hwy 23.

Never mind that the road builder had all of his prevailing wage employees and millions worth of equipment staged and ready to go.

Never mind the cost that is certain to accrue to the taxpayers because of the last minute delay caused by the courts.

Never mind the court costs that the State will incur fighting these looney tunes trying to herd you and I into mass transit.

This lawsuit is nothing more than full employment for lawyers and there is no good reason why the federal judge did not throw it out of court.

To be sure, their actions will have a detrimental effect on economic activity in Wisconsin, especially Sheboygan and Fond Du Lac counties.

Groups such as “1000 Friends of Wisconsin” continually set legal land mines in the path of progress. Environmentalist “experts” and their lawyers crisscross this country harassing developers with their costly legal tactics. Their fanatical activities, like shutting down the Hwy. 23 project, are impediments to a better life for the poor and middle class. Sadly, we can’t count on judges with ties to the Democrat Party to provide any common sense.
