DOT conducting rest area survey

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) encourages travelers to provide input on Wisconsin’s network of rest areas.

There are 17 million people who visit Wisconsin’s 30 rest areas each year, and DOT wants to know how to make this experience better.

A brief survey was developed to help DOT improve rest area operations, plan for future services and locations and understand traveler needs.

There are various ways to take the survey:

· Online: www.restareasurvey.dot.wi.gov.

· Scan the QR code located on posters at all DOT rest areas.

· Pick-up a paper survey at a DOT rest area, complete it and mail it to the pre-addressed location.

The online survey will remain open until Sept. 12. All input collected will be reviewed and integrated into a plan for maintaining and improving Wisconsin rest areas into the future.

User comments are an important part of the analysis which will include a full data collection effort to identify rest area issues and needs. The final plan will include strategies and guidelines for replacing, reconstructing and improving facilities in the future.
