Jerome G. Hartung, 74, of the Town of Mitchell, WI passed away unexpectedly July 6, 2015 at his home.

Jerome was born on February 28, 1941 in Ashland, WI, a son of the late William and Regina (Materne) Hartung.

He graduated from Ashland High School in 1959.

Jerome worked at many different places throughout his life, which included a canning factory in Janesville and the Good Year Company at multiple locations in the state. He also owned and operated the Hart Motors in Campbellsport (where he was fondly known as Jerry Hart) and the Star Auto in Kewaskum until his retirement.

In his retirement, he collected many unique antiques.

Jerome was currently serving on the town of Mitchell Planning Commission. He enjoyed getting together with the Fredonia Coffee Clutch every weekend.

He loved his animals which included horses, dogs and cats, watching any kind of sports and especially being at the many sporting events of his grandchildren.

Survivors include: Three children: Kelly (Scott) Nitsche of Germantown, Jamie (Mark) Birschbach of Eden, Craig Sepstead of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren: Bryce and Bo Bartelt, Paige, Brook and Trey Birschbach and Dakota and Alex Sepstead; his loving companion of over 30 years: Janet Sepstead of Plymouth; two brothers: Raymond Hartung of Utah and Felix (Barbara) Hartung of Waukesha; one sister: Linnea Barrette of Janesville

He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister; Mary (Gaylord) Dewey, one brother; William Hartung, one brother-in-law: Robert Barrette and one sister-in-law: Ethel Hartung.

Prayer services will be held on Wednesday evening (July 15) at 7:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Father Wayne Bittner will officiate. Cremation will take place following the services.

Relatives and friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Jerome’s name.
