Flames’ red-hot bats burn West Bend

PLYMOUTH – A 14-hit onslaught propelled the Plymouth Flames to a 13-5 drubbing of the West Bend Benders in a Land O’ Lakes Baseball League Northern Division matchu-up Wednesday night at Carl Loebe Field.

The Flames upped their league record to 7-3 (11-5 overall). The Benders fell to 0-12 in the LOL.

Plymouth built an 8-0 lead after four innings, keyed by a three-run surge in the bottom of the third on Clay Henning’s bases-loaded triple.

The Benders rallied for five runs in the fifth to close the deficit to 8-5 but Plymouth put the game away with four runs in the eighth to mount a 13-5 lead. Greg Rhude cracked an RBI double and Mike DuCharme delivered an RBI single to spark the outburst.

The Flames were aided by two West Bend errors in the eighth.

Matt Rhude spearheaded the Flames’ attack with three hits. Henning and Dave Stecker added two each. Ten Flames contributed hits. Henning had a team-high four RBIs. Stecker led in runs with three.
