Waldo Mill Pond repairs nearly complete

by Rodney Schroeter of The Review staff

WALDO—At the Village Board meeting Monday night, Village President Dan Schneider reported on progress with work on the road leading to the Mill Pond and other miscellaneous repairs.

“Work on the embankment is nearing completion,” he said. “The rock has been put in. The fabric is down.” Clay will be brought in as it becomes available. Once that has been spread around, the village will need to apply topsoil.

“I’d like to see it no later than October that we have it contoured,” Schneider said.

The village’s wastewater treatment was evaluated through the Department of Natural Resource’s Compliance Maintenance Annual Report (CMAR).

The village did well on the CMAR, Schneider said. He said the village is required to pass a resolution to accept the results of the CMAR, so the board unanimously passed a resolution which will be sent to the DNR in acknowledgment of the CMAR results.

Schneider reported that the village received approval from the DNR for the village’s Emergency Action Plan and Inspection, Operation, and Maintenance Plan for the Onion River Dam.

Updating the board on the Depot Street project, Schneider said, “There was a mistake made on the engineering plans. The gas line was not drawn in correctly. The gas line was drawn in as going underneath the stream bed. And it should actually go in underneath the road bed. So, We Energies has to come in to relocate the gas line before that project can proceed. They were called last Tuesday. We’re basically waiting to hear back from them. That’s probably going to be something that takes a number of weeks, because I’m sure that’s going to require an engineering ticket, and engineering design. So, there’s going to be a little time involved.”

The board unanimously approved one request for rental of a village facility.
