Sidewalk chalk competition planned at Mead Library

The Sheboygan Visual Artists (SVA) and the Mead Public Library are pleased to announce “Chalk it Up” Sheboygan 2015 sidewalk art competition.

The event, open to all ages, will take place on the Mead Library grounds Saturday, August 15. Registrations will be taken in advance as well as on the grounds the day of the event. The registration booth, on the east side of the library will open at 7 am.

The Adult registration fee is $20 per adult and will include a 48-piece set of high-quality sidewalk chalk, an event t-shirt, and an 8 ft. patch of concrete on the library grounds to create unique works of art.

Registration for children 12 years and under will be FREE, sponsored by Mead Library. Each registered child will receive sidewalk chalk, a colorful commemorate pin on button and a space on the upper library area earmarked as the Children’s Area.

Children are asked to submit registration forms with parental permission signatures to the Mead Library front desk. Awards for the children will be selected by Library Staff and Volunteers and will be given out at 12:30 pm. The Library will close at 1pm.

. Early registration is encouraged.

The event will go on rain or shine.

It is also the goal of the “Chalk it Up” Committee to make Sheboygan a known destination for annual “Chalk it Up” sidewalk art competitions.

I Donations of money, merchandise and services will help to insure that there will be adequate monetary awards and additional prizes of merchandise and services to award to the winners. The bigger and better the awards - the greater the competition.
