Road projects continue

The weather is heating up, but the road construction season has been in full swing for some time and work continues on three county state highway projects, according to the Department of Transportation regional office in Green Bay.

On State 67 in the city of Plymouth, the new water main crew will continue installing the new water main north along Caroline Street working through Main Street. Once this work is completed they will swing back to the Mill and Caroline Street intersection to start the water and sewer laterals.

This 0.84-mile, $3.18 million urban reconstruction project from the Mullet River to Suhrke Road involves reconstruction of State 67 from the Mullet River to Suhrke Road, resurfacing and repairs to the Mullet River bridge, and water utility, storm sewer and sanitary sewer reconstruction along with new concrete pavement. It is scheduled for completion in November.

State 67 is closed to through traffic during construction. Access to local businesses and properties will be maintained. However, several of the side roads to State 67 (North Milwaukee Street) will be closed as work progresses. Residents can utilize Edna and Grove Street to cross State 67 and Krumrey Street to access Marshner and Braun Streets.

Alternate access will be maintained as work continues north. The Main Street intersection will remain open to residences and business access only.

The detour for through traffic will be on County C and State 23. State 67 is closed from a point immediately north of Mill Street (County C) and Caroline Street intersection to Suhrke Road.

On State 23, the contractor will finish installing concrete patches and will complete this project approximately mid-week, weather permitting.

Traffic will be controlled via various techniques including: shoulder closures, lane closures, or flagging. Access will be maintained to local businesses and residences.

On State 28 (South 14th Street bridge) in the city of Sheboygan, the contractor will continue deck removal and begin widening the abutment and constructing new wing walls this week.

The $1.7 million project, scheduled for completion in October, consists of bridge deck replacement, pavement replacement and street lighting

State 28 (14th Street) will be closed to all traffic between Niagara Avenue and Ontario Avenue. A detour is in place using Indiana Avenue, Taylor Drive, Kohler Memorial Drive and Erie Avenue.
