Around the pond

As You See It

To The Editor,

I am a member of Boy Scout troop 851. I noticed the plans for Mill Pond/Scout Island and I am afraid that there wont be a pond anymore. I also saw the price dif- ference between keeping it and making a river.

The pond is where I learned to ice-skate and take canoe rides. The pond is the heart of the town. If they change the pond to a river, there is no skate shack, let alone ice-skating or canoeing and kayak. If we change the pond we change the town.

I hope that they keep the pond because I want my children to learn how to ice-skate some day. I think that the Mill Pond is what this town was built around. Sincerely,

Eddie McConaha,
