MARION A. KLAHN

On July 31, 2015, our gracious Lord Jesus called home to himself, Marion A. Klahn, age 85, of Greenbush.

Marion “Toots” was born in Fond du lac, WI on April 25, 1930 to the late Robert and Freida (Salter) Twohig. Marion received her undergraduate degree from Marion University and her Masters from UW Oshkosh in education. Teaching was in her blood and she always led by example. Her career started at Horace Greeley School in Pipe Village as a first grade teacher. From Horace Greeley, she moved to State Road, next to Hulls Crossing, Parnell, and finally to Parkview school. She started with eight grades in a one room classroom and ended her career teaching remedial reading to first and second graders-her favorite grades of them all.

On June 28, 1952 she was united in marriage to John J. Klahn at Zion Lutheran Church in Glenbeulah. She and John built their life on a farm outside of Greenbush and were married over 50 years. Toots helped on the family farm and retired from teaching when their daughter Kim was born. She stayed active in education throughout the years through the PTA and volunteer work at the school.

Her pride and joy were her two grandsons, Alex and Sal, who called her Ya Ya. She took every opportunity she had to be with them and rarely missed an event of either. From raining, cold soccer games to hot, humid baseball games throughout the Midwest, Ya Ya was in the stands cheering. No one was more proud of their academic and athletic accomplishments. Our family was blessed that she and her boys got to spend the quality time they did together. Their daily visits and routines are going to be missed dearly.

Marion is survived by her daughter: Kim (Andrew) Viglietti; grandsons: Alex and Sal, of Greenbush, nieces, nephews and other extended family and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband John, two sisters, an infant brother, and a special nephew.

Family and friends are welcome at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth on Tuesday, August 4 from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Johnson will officiate, with meal following.

In lieu of flowers a scholarship for education will be set up in Marion’s name.
