Tech colleges place 92%

The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Board recently elected officers while it convened at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac. In other business, the Board received a debrief on employment outcomes for 2014 graduates and engaged two different groups of System stakeholders.

The Board unanimously elected John Schwantes, a senior director with Johnsonville Sausage in Sheboygan Falls, to serve a one-year term as board president.

“My emphasis will be on continuing our role in delivering a reliable skill pipeline for Wisconsin's employers,”Schwantes said. “Given the pace of change in the workplace, we'll sharpen our focus on a framework that best allows people to advance those skills over the course of a career. That's good for them and it's good for business.”

Schwantes was pleased to begin his tenure by leading a discussion of the system's most recent Graduate Outcomes Report, which details the results of a survey of 2014 WTCS graduates.

“A 92 percent placement rate is a very positive start to any of the discussions we'll have going forward,” Schwantes remarked.
