Three Resorters play in All-Star Game

OSHKOSH – Elliot Van Oss, Trevor Rebedew and Hunter Schoenborn of Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah had a very enjoyable experience in the first Wisconsin Football Coaches Association 8-Man All-Star Game July 18 at UW-Oshkosh’s Titan Stadium.

The three former Resorter standouts, who were seniors on last season’s Great 8 Conference South Division championship team, played for the South All- Stars who lost to the North, 20-14.

Van Oss played running back and slotback on offense and mostly cornerback on defense for the South team. He was a quarterback at Elkhart. Rebedew played running back and linebacker. Schoen- born competed in the offensive and defensive lines.

“It was an honor for us to be in the all-star game and be a part of this experience,” said Van Oss on behalf of his ex-Resorter teammates. “We played our hearts out.

“I think all three of us represented our community and the Elkhart football program very well. We had a lot of fun.”

Van Oss ran for 45 yards on eight carries and caught one pass for 47 yards. Rebedew had one carry for 9 yards and ran for a twopoint conversion following the South’s fourth-quarter touchdown. Schoenborn had one reception for 3 yards.

Two North-South all-star games for 11-man football were also held July 18 at Titan Stadium. The North won the Small School game, 10-3. The South triumphed in the Large School game, 20-15.

Participants in the three all-star games raised a total of just over $500,000 for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin through fund-raising efforts.

“It meant a lot to me to help raise money for children in need,” said Van Oss.

“We appreciated everything the WFCA did in hosting the game. I made a lot of friends on my teaam.”
