Philip O. Melius, 85, of Plymouth, WI passed away on Sunday morning (August 30, 2015) at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls following a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 28, 1930 in West Allis, WI, a son of the late Oscar P. and Agnes (Olson) Melius. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1947.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1949-1953, serving in the Korean War on Okinawa Island.

On August 26, 1952 he married Lenore Heilman at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple resided in Milwaukee, 36 years in Random Lake and 25 years in Plymouth.

Philip worked at the Oster Corporation in Milwaukee for many years retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sherman Center and formerly ushered in the Church and served on the Stewardship Committee.

He had a passion for airplanes and was a licensed pilot and flew many flights to other states. He was a member of the E.A.A.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years: Lenore of Plymouth; his daughter: Melanie Campbell of Sheboygan; one granddaughter: Kelly Campbell of Sheboygan; one great granddaughter: Keyana Newton; one sister: Bette Ziehl of Wauwatosa; one sister-in-law: Anita Duschak of Milwaukee.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Matthew Melius; and one sister: Valerie Kunz.

Memorial services will be held Thursday afternoon, September 3, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Randal Schoemann, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Sherman Center will officiate. Cremation has taken place and Inurnment will be at the Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Batavia.

Friends may call at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 2:00 P.M. on Thursday afternoon until the time of services.

Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 will conduct Military Rites at the funeral home following the services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.
