Huskies stay unbeaten in league play

ALGOMA – Zach Petrie and Jacob Conrad scored two goals each to spark the New Holstein/ Elkhart Lake Huskies to a 5-0 rout over Algoma here Monday afternoon in boys soccer action.

The Huskies raised their Eastern Wisconsin Conference/Packerland Conference record to 2-0 (3- 0-2 overall). NH/EL-G outscored the Wolves 4-0 in the first half.

Josue Valenzuela kicked the other goal and also had a team- high three assists. Conrad and Noah Ruh (EL-G student) contributed one assist each.

The Huskies held a 16-5 edge in shots on goal. EL-G goalie Stephan Clemens (Elkhart student) made five saves.

“This was our first tough road trip in our new conference. With the long bus ride, the August sun, and the unfamiliar surroundings it is easy to get off to a bad start. But we passed the test well and started the game very well,” said Husky head coach Nate Laabs.

“Zach Petrie attacked very well from the center-mid position today and really helped to key our offense.”
