School staff donate food, books

Plymouth School District employees filled two wagons (including this vintage one loaned by the Knaus family) with children’s books donated for Little Free Libraries. District employees donated food and children’s books during their annual back-to-school event Aug. 27. The food donations for the Plymouth Food Pantry filled 16 milk crates and four large boxes, plus employees gave another $95 in cash. The food drive, in its second year, was organized by PHS German teacher Sandy Nicholson. The book drive was a new effort, suggested by Anne Gamoke, director of pupil services. The books will replenish local Little Free Libraries, where children’s books go especially fast, said PHS English teacher Sarah Maki. Her sophomores and Gamoke will distribute the books around the city.
