Strange tales, cheesemaking in history series

History on the Move, sponsored by the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, continues it fall season at Lakeview Community Library, 112 Butler Street, Random Lake on Thursday, October 1, 2015.

The topic for this presentation is Random Local History, Fun Stuff for the Inquiring Mind

Sheboygan County is filled with odd and interesting history. What is the real story of the Dead Horse? Who was the Black Terror of Sheboygan? Have you ever read an obituary for an outhouse? Learn the meaning of the term, Yeggman. Find out why Cupid was baffled. Learn the full story behind the murder of revered, early teacher, John Sexton. You’ll enjoy every story and photo included in this random collection of historical gems.

The program runs from 1:00pm to 2:30pm and is held in the library’s meeting room. This presentation is open to the public. There is no charge.

History on the Move, continues its 2015 season on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with a presentation on Cheese Factories of Sheboygan County.

The program begins at 1 p.m. at Oostburg Public Library, located at 213 North Eighth St. in Oostburg.

The class will take a look at a number of the more than 100 cheese factories that once flourished in Sheboygan County.
