State 67 projects nearing finish

Excavation, concrete sidewalk removal, grading the terraces and preparation for concrete sidewalk installation will begin this week on the State 67/North Milwaukee Street project, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation regional office in Green Bay.

By midweek the sidewalk crew will form and pour the sidewalk and drives along northbound State 67. The restoration and landscape crew will start work this week as well. Late this week crews should install the remaining curb and gutter along State 67.

The 0.84-mile, $3.18 million urban reconstruction project from the Mullet River to Suhrke Road in the city of Plymouth is scheduled for completion next month.

This project involves reconstruction of State 67 from the Mullet River to Suhrke Road, resurfacing and repairs to the Mullet River bridge, and water utility, storm sewer and sanitary sewer reconstruction along with new concrete pavement.

State 67 is closed to through traffic during construction. Access to local businesses and properties will be maintained. However, several of the side roads to State 67 (North Milwaukee Street) will be closed as work progresses. Residents can utilize Edna and Grove streets to cross State 67 and Krumrey Street to access Marshner and Braun streets. Alternate access will be maintained as work continues north. The Main Street intersection will remain open to residences and business access only.

Traffic is detoured using County C and State 23.

At the intersection of State 67 (South Milwaukee Street) and County PP, general site clean-up will occur early this week. Roadway signs are scheduled to be installed on Thursday and Friday.

Along State 67 from County PP to Riverbend Drive, additional pavement repairs in the southbound shoulder lane started Monday and should be complete by Thursday. Roadway signs are scheduled to be installed on Thursday and Friday.

The 0.75-mile, $848,000 rural reconstruction and resurfacing project is scheduled to be completed by next Monday.

This work involves two contracted projects - The reconstruction of the intersection at State 67 and County PP/Hill and Dale Road and the mill and overlay of State 67 from County PP northward to Riverbend Drive. The work on these projects includes pavement removals, asphalt pavement, culvert pipe, storm sewer, curb and gutter, beam guard, signing, pavement marking, and erosion control.

State 67 traffic is detoured on County ZZ, County Z County C, and State 23 while work is being performed at the intersection of State 67 and County the 14thPP.

On Street bridge in the city of Sheboygan, the contractor will finish placing steel reinforcement for the new bridge deck this week and will pour the bridge deck at the end of the week.

This project, scheduled for completion next month, consists of bridge deck replacement, pavement replacement and street lighting.

State 28 (14th Street) will be closed to all traffic between Niagara Avenue and Ontario Avenue through mid-November. A detour will be in place using Indiana Avenue, Taylor Drive, Kohler Memorial Drive and Erie Avenue

Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through any work zone.
