Resorters fall to South Division leader

MADISON – Running back Obi Iwuagu scored seven touchdowns and quarterback Mike Rhatican passed for six to spark Abundant Life Christian to a 70-38 rout over the visiting Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters in a Great 8 Conference eight-man football game Saturday afternoon.

The Challengers raised their firstplace South Division record to 5-0 (6-1 overall). The Resorters dropped to 3-2 in the division (3-4 overall).

Iwuagu, a junior, scored two TDs on kickoff returns, ran for three scores and caught a pair of TD passes. Rhatican, a freshman, was 11-for- 15 passing for 277 yards, highlighted by a 69-yard scoring strike to Iwuagu which was the game’s first TD.

The Challengers broke the game open with 28 unanswered points in the second quarter to build a 44- 22 halftime cushion. Elkhart had taken a 22-16 lead on a 5-yard TD pass from quarterback Jared Shaw to tight end Owen Kalbacken and a two-point conversion run by Trent Rebedew.

Rebedew, a senior running back, had a huge game on the ground with 210 yards and two TDs on 36 carries. Shaw chipped in with 138 yards rushing and two TDs.

Iwuagu caught four passes for a whopping 162 yards and ran for 107 yards.
