One State 67 project ending

Work on the State 67 (North Milwaukee Street) road project in the city of Plymouth will move on to the sidewalk phase this week, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) regional office in Green Bay, while work at the intersection of State 67 and County PP is expected to wrap up this week.

The 0.84-mile, $3.18 million urban reconstruction project involves reconstruction of State 67 from the Mullet River to Suhrke Road, resurfacing and repairs to the Mullet River Bridge, and water utility, storm sewer and sanitary sewer reconstruction along with new concrete pavement.

The sidewalk and concrete driveway work should continue all week along State 67 northbound. By midweek the curb and gutter along State 67 southbound should have cured, and this crew will return to form and pour the remaining side roads. Preparation and paving asphalt at the side roads and driveways may occur this week along North Milwaukee Street. The restoration and landscaping crew will start work this week as well.

The concrete pavement, curb and gutter and driveways will need to cure for about seven days before vehicles are allowed to drive on the new concrete. In addition, access to property owners’ driveways will be restricted during concrete paving, concrete driveway installation and cure time for two to three weeks.

State 67 is closed to through traffic from a point immediately north of the Mill Street (County C) and Caroline Street intersection to Suhrke Road. Traffic is detoured using County C and State 23.

At the intersection of State 67 and County PP, roadway signs are scheduled to be installed on Monday and Tuesday. It is anticipated that the roadway will be re-opened to traffic by no later than Wednesday evening, Oct. 14.

On State 67 from County PP to Riverbend Drive, the asphalt pavement will be measured and analyzed for smoothness on Monday. Roadway signs are scheduled to be installed on Monday and Tuesday. It is anticipated that the roadway will be re-opened to traffic by no later than Wednesday evening, Oct. 14.

The 0.75-mile, $848,000 rural reconstruction and resurfacing project at the intersection of State 67 and County PP and from County PP to Riverbend Drive involves two contracted projects.

One is the reconstruction of the intersection at State 67 and County PP/Hill and Dale Road, the other is the mill and overlay of State 67 from County PP northward to Riverbend Drive. The work on these projects includes pavement removals, asphalt pavement, culvert pipe, storm sewer, curb and gutter, beam guard, signing, pavement marking, and erosion control.

State 67 traffic is detoured on County ZZ, County Z County C, and State 23 while work is being performed at the intersection of State 67 and County PP.

Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through any work zone.
