Plymouth Education Foundation holds Q&A session on grants

The Plymouth Education Foundation will host an information meeting and question/answer session about the $10,000 in new grants it will award to Plymouth School District staff, as well as to district students and community members who partner with district staff, to develop and lead innovative initiatives that are new or enhance existing educational programs benefitting current and future students.

The foundation’s grants information meeting and question/ answer session will take place Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 a.m. in the boardroom at Plymouth High School. Plymouth school district staff, district students, and Plymouth community members are encouraged to attend if they have a grant idea to share or have questions/ feedback about the foundation’s new grants program. The Plymouth Education Foundation grants will provide seed funding for innovative educational initiatives that are new or enhance an existing program impacting students, K-12, in the district in the areas of: academic enrichment, extracurricular activities, professional development, and connecting students with their futures and community. Grant ideas are encouraged to expand interdisciplinary clusters, build community and industry partnerships, support entrepreneurial student ventures, and prepare students to succeed in life and make a difference in our community/ society.

The deadline to apply for a foundation grant is Feb. 5, 2016. The foundation’s grant recipients will be announced and awarded in May 2016 and the grants will go into action in the 2016-17 school year.

The foundation plans to award grants on an annual basis and hopes to be able to offer grants each year through the generous support of foundation donors.

Plymouth Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose primary purpose is to enhance the educational experience for the students enrolled in the Plymouth School District. The foundation is a proactive organization raising funds to provide for special academic programs, activities, lecturers, awards, and scholarships; capital projects not covered by the school district’s budget that enhance educational opportunities; professional development for teachers in programs that benefit students in the district; and, other activities as deemed appropriate and requested by the Plymouth Board of Education.
