State 67 project wraps up

It’s finally over.

Except for final cleanup work, the State 67 highway project in the city of Plymouth finished up last week after more than six months of disruption.

North Milwaukee Street was reopened to traffic late last week. The contractor still will have remaining punch list work to complete this week, but should not impede the traffic on State 67, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) regional office in Green Bay.

The 0.84-mile, $3.18 million urban reconstruction project involved the reconstruction of State 67 from the Mullet River to Suhrke Road, resurfacing and repairs to the Mullet River bridge, and water utility and storm sewer work.

The State 28 14th Street bridge project in the city of Sheboygan is also nearing completion.

The $1.7 million project consists of bridge deck replacement, pavement replacement and street lighting.

This week, the contractor will complete removal of bridge forms, install new street lights and complete lawn restoration.

State 28 (14th Street) is closed to all traffic between Niagara Avenue and Ontario Avenue through mid-November. A detour will be in place using Indiana Avenue, Taylor Drive, Kohler Memorial Drive and Erie Avenue

Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through any work zone.

Drivers are also encouraged to seek information about work zones and detours in the following ways:

For statewide, recorded road construction information, 24 hours a day, call 511.

For statewide road construction, visit

For northeast region projects, visit ne/.

All work is weather dependent.
