JAMES DUANE TORKELSON

James Duane Torkelson, 78,of the Town of Mitchell, WI, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning October 28, 2015 at Rocky Knoll Heath Care Facility.

On December 28, 1936 he was born in Tomahawk, WI, son of the late George and Dorothy (Massa) Torkelson.

Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958 as a Staff Sergeant. He earned a Good Conduct Medal as well as a National Defense Service Medal.

Jim worked for American Motors in Kenosha, Regency Tool & Die and Lincoln Tool, in Milwaukee. He most recently worked at Kohler Company.

On June 5, 1982 he married Shirley Fritsch at Christ Church in Milwaukee. Following their marriage the couple moved to Plymouth.

Jim loved farming, hunting, fishing, airboating, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley of the Town of Mitchell; three children: Jence (Larissa) Torkelson of Neenah, Luis Navarrette of Appleton and Kim Torkelson of Wisconsin Dells; three grandchildren: Amy, Alisha and Austin; one brother: Donald Torkelson of Mauston; two sistersin law: Elaine Fritsch of Milwaukee and Diane (Anthony) Sciortino of Racine; four brothers-in-law: Howard Fritsch of Milwaukee, Ronald (Barbara) Fritsch of Milwaukee, Kenneth (Shelby) Fritsch of Milwaukee and Ralph Fritsch of Milwaukee.

He is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son: Craig Torkelson.

Memorial Services were held on Saturday October 31 at 12:30 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Dale Miller officiated.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Saturday (Oct. 31) from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services. Military Rites followed the services at the funeral home by the VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Jim’s name.
