Renda L. McCormick (Nee Paulson) 72, of Sheboygan passed away on Monday, November 09, 2015 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a two- year battle with cancer.

She was born on July 28, 1943 in Berwyn, IL, daughter of Rudolph and Charlotte (Bowers) Paulson. While Renda’s dad was in the Army in WWII in the Pacific, her Mom was staying with her sister in Berwyn, IL.

Renda spent her early life in Ontonagon, MI then moved to Milwaukee in her teen years. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1961. She worked full time and attended night classes at MATC. Renda worked as a flight attendant for Eastern Air Lines from 1964 to 1967 based at O’Hare Field.

On May 20, 1967 she married William McCormick at St Roman’s Church in Milwaukee. The couple resided in Plymouth, WI since 1985.

Renda worked at and attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education

She was a Girl Scout leader in Lindenhurst, IL and later in Ashland, OH. She was a 4-H leader in Wabash, IN. Renda taught second grade in Wabash, IN, taught CCD in Merrimack, NH and Plymouth, WI. She was a substitute teacher in several Sheboygan County school Districts. Renda worked for RCS supervising independent-living residents and residents in a group home, teaching one resident basic sign language so they could communicate with caregivers. She provided respite care through Sheboygan County Human Services.

Renda volunteered at Sheboygan Theatre Company, JMK Arts Center and Bookworm Gardens. Her favorite volunteer activity was at Wilson Elementary School in Sheboygan, working with the second graders to improve reading skills. She was awarded volunteer of the year in 2012 for the Shewboygan Area School District.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years: Bill; two sons: Wil (Maria) McCormick of Avon, IN, Jason McCormick of Madison, WI; one daughter: Eileen (Jeff) Kelm of Wisconsin Rapids; one grandson: Robert Kelm; one Brother: Rudy (Kathy) Paulson of Franklin; one Sister: Charmaine Paulson of Los Angeles, CA; one Brother-in-law: Terry (Sheila) McCormick of Sheridan, IL; two Sisters in-law: Karen (Don) Norton of Chicago, Il, Gail Guilfoile of Denver, CO. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark and grandson Gabriel.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 12:00 Noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Father Dan Volkert, Pastor of the Church, will offi- ciate. Cremation has taken place and Inurnment will take place at Holy Family Cemetery in Ontonagon, MI.

Friends may call at the church from 10:00 AM on Saturday, Nov. 14, until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Renda’s name.
