Marcella Prange Hellmer

November 7, 2015, marked the one year anniversary of Marcella’s passing. With this, a memorial service is to be held at Salem United Church of Christ, 217 Salem Dr., in Plymouth, on Thursday afternoon, November 19.

Visitation will be at 3:30 pm with the memorial service at 4:30 pm. The Rev. James Hoppert will officiate.

Marcella was born July 6, 1922 in the Town of Rhine, growing up on a farm, the daughter of Ernst and Meta Pringle Dexheimmer. She attended Maple corner School in the Town of Schleswig and is a graduate of Kiel High School. She also attended Sheboygan Business College and after completion spent several years in the employment of the Vollrath

Company office in Sheboygan.

On April 12, 1941, she married Milton Prange, from Johnsonville. Together they owned and operated Milt Prange Excavating until his untimely passing on February, 15, 1962, at the age of 48. Thereafter, for several years she was employed by Gottsacker Real Estate Co., in the Plymouth office where she met Eugene Hellmer, and on June 22, 1968, they were married. Gene preceded her in death on August 8, 1998.

Marcella was a member of Salem United Church for over 50 years. She was active in PTA, Cub Scouts, and for many years teaching Sunday school at Salem Church.

She is survived by her son: Jim (Mary) of Greenbush; and her two step-sons: Chuck Hellmer (Nancy), of Greenbush and John Hellmer of San Diego; her grandchildren: Jeff and Erica Prange and Travis Hellmer. She is also survived by her sister-in-law: Imogene Dexheimmer, of Sheboygan, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Henry W. Dexheimmer.
