JUDE T. FITZGERALD

Jude T. Fitzgerald, 76, of Adell, WI, passed away early Tuesday afternoon (November 17, 2015) at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice where he had resided for the past four days.

He was born on December 10, 1938 in Scranton, PA, a son of the late John and Marie (Mulrooney) Fitzgerald.

He graduated from Abington Heights High School in Clarks Summit, PA.

Jude served in the United States Army from 1962 joining the elite 82nd Airborne Division from 1962 to 1963 and then with the 1st Special Forces Group (Okinawa) from 1963 to 1965 and with the MACV (Military Assistance Command-Vietnam) from 1965 to 1966 and 3rd Special Forces Group from 1966 to 1967.

On March 15, 1969 he married Linda Watson at St. Dorothea Catholic Church in Eaton Town, NJ. The couple has resided in Washington DC, Louisville, KY and they moved to Adell in 1971.

Jude received a Paratroopers Badge, Special Forces Training and Intelligence Analyst Training. His Army decorations include both Vietnam and Campaign Medals and the Army Combat Medal. He was a proud author of three books on Vietnam.

Jude was so proud of his service in the Army that he asked to be buried in his fatigues and green beret.

He worked for Walgreens Corporation as a loss prevention specialist for 31 years retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Random Lake (formerly St. Patrick‘s in Adell). He was a member of the Russell W. Mulder American Legion Post# 462 in Adell and the Special Forces Association Chapter # 73.

He enjoyed golf, writing and loved playing cards (especially Sheepshead), listening to Johnny Cash and watching his grandson perform “Johnny Cash.”

Survivors include his wife of 46 years: Linda of Adell; one son: John (Jenna) Fitzgerald of West Bend; two daughters: Casey (Kyle) Yost of Howards Grove and Kelly Karas of Plymouth; five grandchildren: Asher, Miranda, and Kennedy Fitzgerald, Rozz and Valor Yost; four sisters: Donna Torregrossa of Bushkill, PA, Gerrie “Mert” Carey, Marion “Molly” Supanek, Marie “Reece” Lynch, all of Clarks Summit, PA; two brothers: Richard Fitzgerald of Clarks Summit, PA and John (Pam) Fitzgerald of Oregonia, OH; two brothers-in-law: Dennis (Denise) Watson of Mooresville, NC and Gerry Watson (special friend Kelly) of Brick, NJ.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Peggy Moylan; two nephews: Marty Moylan and Jonathan Supanek; and son-inlaw: John Karas.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church (St. Mary’s) in Random Lake. Father Richard Cerpich will officiate. Cremation will follow services and Inurnment will be in St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Adell.

Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 22 at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.

The American Legion Post #243 will conduct Military Rites at the Church following mass on Monday.
