Sheboygan holiday light show set to music

With the Christmas Season upon us, the City of Sheboygan and Sheboygan Squared invite all residents and visitors to Downtown Sheboygan. New this year, the City has invested in infrastructure to synchronize the colorful lighted trees in the Halprin Fountain adjacent to the Mead Public Library to music.

The “Celebration of Lights” consists of 18 staged Christmas trees along with the large spruce tree. The length of the show is approximately 10-12 minutes which includes four programmed songs that the lights follow along with. There are 50,000 individual dimmable LED lights and 80 mini-strobe lights scattered through the display. The City’s hope is for the show to become an annual tradition which will grow from year to year.

As part of the annual Jaycees Holiday Parade on Sunday, November 29, Caroline McMahan, the granddaughter of Mayor Vandersteen will be switching the lights on. The Public is encouraged to participate.

This addition in Downtown Sheboygan is to augment the lighted display “Making Spirits Bright” at Evergreen Park.

“This is a great opportunity to explore our downtown, visit our retailers and start your Christmas Shopping locally,” added Dave Hoffman, Sheboygan Squared Business Manager.

Small Business Saturday on November 28, 2016 will start out the Holiday Season followed by Home for the Holidays on December 5 with the downtown merchants.
