Arts Center hopes to triple donations

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Falling on December 1 this year, #GivingTuesday kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

The Arts Center has been challenged to raise $20,000 before midnight, Dec. 1, by generous donors who will triple that amount to $60,000 if the goal is met. Donations will be used to continue the Arts Center’s admission-free policy, which allows the entire community access to the galleries and the art-making studio known as The ARTery. In addition, con- tributions support the discovery of emerging artists, the preservation of art environments, and the presentation of music and dance from around the globe.

“Through this generous challenge, contributors at all levels support amazing arts experiences for all ages and abilities, from our Preschool through the SPARK! program for people experiencing memory loss,” said Cynthia Echols, Arts Center chief advancement officer. “This is our second year in the #GivingTuesday movement and we are encouraged by the early response from partners eager to continue making an impact in this global conversation.”

Contributions to the Arts Center’s #GivingTuesday challenge can be made online at jmkac.org, by calling 920-458-6144, or at the Arts Center, 608 New York Ave., Sheboygan.

Looking to the future, the Arts Center continues to generate new explorations in the arts that foster creative exchanges between an international community of artists and a diverse public, making real the power of the arts to transform lives and strengthen communities. The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is supported by corporate and foundation donors, government grants, and its many members.
