Hospital encourages acts of charity

Holiday shopping will take center stage on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but the act of giving is set to shine on Tuesday, Dec. 1 with #GivingTuesday - an international movement to celebrate generosity and to give back to our communities. It was started in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street YMCA in partnership with the United Nations as an effort to create a national day of giving during the holiday season.

HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital is hoping you’ll participate by mak- ing a donation to the not-for-profit hospital, which cares for all people regardless of their ability to pay. Charitable donations to HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital make up for the shortfalls of Medicaid and Medicare payments.

“Charitable giving is good for the health of our community. At HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital, charitable donations have a significant impact on our ability to go above and beyond caring for you, your family and friends,” said Charmaine Conrad, Director of Philanthropy at HSHS St. Nicholas

* $10 could help us purchase a stuffed animal to provide comfort to kids having surgery

* $35 could help a low-income, expectant mother attend a childbirth education class

* $200 could host a HALO (Hope After Loss Organization) memorial service for parents and families who lost a baby at birth

You can donate to HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital by visiting giving-tuesday.
