Holec leads PHS to second in triangular

PLYMOUTH – Senior Ryan Holec won two events to lead the Plymouth Panthers to a strong second-place finish in a boys swimming and diving triangular meet here Tuesday night.

Holec earned first place in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.47 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 55.16. He also helped the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays capture firsts.

PHS won five events en route to scoring 121 points. West Bend East/West team took first with 130 and Kiel finished third with 70.

“A great meet for us last night – losing to a very big, deep team in West Bend which combined is the second largest school in the state – and easily defeating Eastern Wisconsin Conference rival Kiel,” said Panther head coach Clare Sedlacek.

“Two big relay wins on the night – both the medley and 200 free relay. The medley was just off their time from last week [in the meet versus Berlin] and the 200 free had a big drop in time.

“Ryan had a season’s best in the 50 free, going faster than he did at sectionals last year. Harrison Strutz had a first and second individually in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly [respectively] and was also a part of the winning medley and 200 free relay teams. Solid swims by Harrison, especially in the butterfly,” said Sedlacek.

West Bend won the junior varsity meet with 145 points, followed by Kiel with 75 and PHS, 62.
