Don’t be shy, everyone has a cookie ritual

You wait all year, and the time has come. A Girl Scout will be coming to your door or to your email offering your favorite cookies beginning January 7. When they are delivered the last 2 weeks in February, you eat them in your own special way and then continue your ritual by buying more from the local Girl Scout cookie booths beginning in late February and into March.

This year you can show the world the special way you enjoy your Girl Scout Cookies. Take a creative photo or selfie using your favorite Girl Scout Cookie and upload it to Instagram using the hashtag #GSCookiegram, February 26-March 25. Four winners will be selected to receive one case of Girl Scout Cookies of his or her choice.

If no Girl Scout comes to your door, don’t despair. You can arrange to order them from a local Girl Scout at www.girlscoutcookies.org, find a cookie booth at http://m.cookielocator.littlebrownie.com, download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app to your smart phone or call, for Plymouth-Valarie Bergum at (920) 838-4387; for Elkhart Lake and Howards Grove- Lori Bramstedt at (920) 946-8156 or for Sheboygan Falls and Kohler- Crystal Thelen at (920) 980-0813.

According to Denise Schemenauer, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Manitou Council, “Girls decide how to spend their troop’s cookie proceeds and reinvest it back into the community through service projects and other Girl Scout fun; 100% of the revenue earned remains local. Virtually all troop activities are funded by the Girl Scout Cookie Sale and it plays a large part in maintaining our camps and providing training and support tools to Girl Scout Leaders. Our local Girl Scouts have been preparing for the last month by learning about running a business, setting up their personal e-commerce sites, learning about safety, and making plans for the use of cookie sale proceeds.”

Girl Scout Cookies have been sold since 1917. While every Girl Scout Cookie meets FDA guidelines with zero trans-fat per serving, each girl knows that cookies are a delectable snack to be consumed in moderation.
