Tigers bounce back strong from tough loss

The Tigers, 5-1, avenged a loss to the Ledgers in a Division 4 sectional semifinal game last season. The Ledgers dropped to 4-3.

“A great team win. We executed our defense well again tonight and I am proud of how we bounced back after an extremely difficult loss,” said Tiger head coach Heidi Georgeff.

HGHS bounced back after a tough loss to Sheboygan Christian, 55-53, Friday night.

The Tigers outscored Springs 17-3 at the foul line.

The Tigers opened up a 24-14 halftime lead. Brittany Schaller and Sam Yancy sparked the HGHS attack in the first half with nine and eight points, respectively.

Yancy also had a team-high seven rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots.

Ashley Reinemann and Olivia Stauss contributed six boards each for HGHS. Schaller led the team in assists with three.

“Credit goes to Addi Gerber and Sam Yancy for holding their much bigger post players [Emily Mueller and Anja Smith] to five and six points [respectively],” said Georgeff.

Gracie Reider paced the Ledgers in scoring with 13, including eight in the second half.
