Yancy ignites Tigers to conference win

The home victory pushed the Tigers’ Big East Conference record to 4-1 (6-1 overall). The Lancers dropped to 1-4 (3-6 overall).

Yancy had a team-high 23 points, 10 rebounds, four blocked shots and seven steals. Junior guard Ashley Reinemann also had a strong out ing

– contributing 10 points, eight boards, five steals and a team-best six assists.

“We got 20 of our points off turnovers which was the difference in the game,” said Tiger head coach Heidi Georgeff.

“Sam had a very good overall night. Ashley really stepped up, offensively, and knocked down some big baskets for us.”

Freshman forward Emily Behnke led the Lancers’ scoring with 14 points – 10 in the first half.

HGHS outscored Lutheran 16-4 at the foul line, led by Yancy at 7-for- 8 and Reinemannm 4-for-4.

JUNIOR VARSITY GAME

Lutheran won the JV contest, 34- 23. The key was the second half in which the Lancers outscored the Tigers 20-12.

Sara Marten paced the HGHS offense with 11 points.
