“It was a great high school basketball game. Both teams played hard and battled. Oostburg just made a few more plays than we did,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

“I am proud of the way we battled to stay in the game and tie the game late. We had a chance to tie it again [at 55-55] with seconds remaining – it [shot] just would not fall for us.”

Oostburg hit two free throws at the end which clinched the win as they went up 57-53.

Elkhart rallied in the second half after trailing 29-22 at halftime.

The Lady Dutch improved to 5-1 in the Big East Confer- ence (5-4 overall). The Resorters dropped to 3-3 in the BEC (4-4 overall).

“The girls gave everything they had and then some. We gave a solid effort, especially in the second half to get back in the game and have a chance to win it,” said Kulow.

Junior guard Sonia Schubert sparked the Resorters’ attack with 17 points and Rachael Flora netted 14. Schubert also had a teamhigh six steals and four assists.

Flora paced EL-G in rebounds with eight.

Allie Toeller led a balanced Oostburg offense with 15 points.
