Still Point Zen Center to host Random Lake public open house

Still Point Zen Center will host an Open House from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at N1811 Knorr Rd, Random Lake.

Since moving to Sheboygan County in December of 2005 Still Point Zen Center has been providing Meditation Services, workshops, retreats and Yoga at the Zen Center. There is a grass Labyrinth and walking paths through the woods open to all who seek to reflect and experience peace in nature.

To the wider community Still Point Zen Center has been working in the prison system of Wisconsin offering Buddhist Study groups and Clergy visits at Kettle Moraine Correctional and Buddhist Services, Clergy visits, and Yoga at Taycheedah Correctional Institution. Since 2006 Still Point Zen Center has been working with a program called Vets Journey Home providing retreats to help with the emotional and spiritual/ moral healing of veterans. These retreats take place three times a year in Wisconsin and also in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and California.

The environment is important to stewardship of the land, this includes solar panels on the roof to give power to the electric grid. Organic standards are also practiced on 6 acres of tillable land and the center went through the organic certification standards with MOSA to bring the soil back to health. Still Point Zen Center has also been involved with a research project on Wetland and Woodland environments through the UWMadison.

The 46 acres have been studied for changes in plants, soil, and wildlife for over 55 years. The improvement to the land using organic standards have been documented and research shows great improvements to the eco-system.

At the Open House several organically grown meal items will be available to sample.
