Baby Signs and badminton offered

Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation is offering two new opportunities, a Badminton Tournament and a Baby Signs class.

The first public Badminton Tourney at Plymouth High School will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 in the gym at the school, 125 Highland Ave. Individuals will play in a round-robin tournament for the Golden Racquet. Entries are due Saturday, Jan. 30; fee is $10 ($8 for Generations members or district residents ages 62 and up).

Baby Signs, for children ages 18 months through 4 years with an adult, will help parents understand what their children are thinking and will help children better communicate their needs. Adults and children will play games and sing songs while learning simple hand gestures together. Class will meet with instructor Polly Kaat from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays from Feb. 2 to March 8 at Generations, 1500 Douglas Drive; fee is $35/pair until Jan. 22, then $45.

Online registration - which no longer carries a service charge - is available for these classes, which allows participants to pay with a credit card and to receive immediate confirmation of enrollment.
