One of the bright spots for the Resorters was having junior Frank Perko, a letter winner last year, back in the lineup after being sidelined this season with an injury. Perko chalked up a 4-1 record at 145 pounds in the six-team invitational.

The Resorters lost to the following teams: Chilton/Hilbert, 48- 29; Laconia, 47-33; Ripon, 57-22; Kenosha Christian Life, 50-22; and Kewaskum, 46-24. Ripon won the tournament with a 4-1 record and Elkhart was last.

Perko was one of four wrestlers who led the Resorters with 4-1 records at the invitational. The others were Max Ward at 126, Trent Rebedew, 138 and Jon Roll at 285. Troy Rebedew and Matthew Schorer contributed 3-2 records at 152 and 220, respectively.

The kids were flat,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward whose team ended the regular-season dual schedule with a 12-10 record.

“It was nice to get Perko back in action. I was very impressed with Jon [sophomore] and Matthew [freshman from Howards Grove]. They are both young which has me very excited about the success they have had so far.”

The Resorters will host the Big East Conference Tournament Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. Elkhart finished third in the BEC dual season with a 5-2 record.
