RONALD SCHMIDT

Surrounded by his family, Ronald Schmidt, 79, of Cascade, WI found eternal peace and never ending fishing on Sunday, February 7, 2016.

He was born in Dotyville, WI on May 29, 1936 to Harold and Gladys (Guell) Schmidt. He attended elementary school in Cascade and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1954. After graduation, he began his employment at Gehl Company in West Bend where he worked until his retirement in 1999. He served his country in the United States Army from 1958-1960.

On January 12, 1957 he was married to Celine Schmitz at St. Mary’s in Random Lake. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade, served as Clerk for the Village of Cascade for two terms, and was a member of Cascade Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, playing cards and dartball. He had a love of fishing, especially with his good friend Jim ‚“Rosie” Rosenthal on Lake Winnebago, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years: Celine; and their five children: Pat (Jim) Schermetzler of Mesa, AZ, Bob (Mary) of Kansas City, MO, Amy (Lance) Laack of Rochester, MN, Cathy (Dan) Halle of Sheboygan, and Bill (Tara) of West Bend. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Allison and Alexander Haack, Justin Schmidt, Konrad and Eleanor Laack, Olivia Halle, Carson and Caden Schmidt; two step-granddaughters: Cori Barimo and Kristin Karls; four step-great-grandchildren: his only sister: Janet Klug; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father in-law: Genevieve and Emil Schmitz; four brothersin law; two sisters-in-law; and by his best canine friend, Reggie.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade at 6 p.m. Rev. Richard Bidinger, Pastor of the Church will officiate. Military Rites will take place immediately following services at Church.

Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday, Feb. 11 from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cascade First Responders and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
