Leading the charge for the Panthers were three runners-up – sophomore Connor Schmidt at 113 pounds, freshman Josh Koll, 132 and Nathan Francis at 138.

PHS, which scored 163 points, improved four places over last year’s Eastern Wisconsin Conference Tournament. Campbellsport won the seven-team tourney with 232.5, followed by Ripon at 204.5.

“It’s great to see when everything starts to click for your team. Last year we had one guy finish in the top four, and this year we had nine. Everyone stepped it up a few notches and wrestled a great tournament,” said Panther head coach Ben Chapman.

The Panthers’ other place-winners included: third – Pablo Lopez at 126, Erik Ohman, 152 and Kyle Schwibinger at 170; fourth – Will Birkholz at 120, Jake Hefter, 220 and Gabe Haun at 285; and fifth – Jesus Guzman at 182 and Jesse Schwarten, 195.

“Nathan looked much more comfortable and relaxed in the tournament, and showed what he is capable of. I’m very pleased with the tournament he had,” said Chapman.

“Connor Schmidt and Josh Koll continue to wrestle at a high level and are constantly elevating their level.”
