UW-S hosts photography exhibit

The University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Fine Arts Gallery invites the community to visit the campus for the latest Fine Arts Gallery art exhibition, Photographs by local Sheboygan artist Dennis Ninmer. A special opening reception is planned for Friday, March 4, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. The show is currently open and runs through March 31.

Ninmer has been a photographer since 1976. He owned a studio and gallery for many years, but sold it in 2015. He currently exhibits his artwork in other galleries, at shows, special exhibits and websites. (Please see dennis-ninmer.artistwebsites.com). He currently maintains a studio at EBCO Artworks in Sheboygan.

Ninmer’s interest in photography started in the early 1970’s.

“Digital photography gave me the freedom to abstract or manipulate images many different ways. When I want to create an abstract image on the computer, I look for a subject that will look interesting when completed,” Ninmer explained. “Exploring the world of abstracts, created with the camera, is challenging and rewarding.”

Ninmer’s technique is created by using slow movements of the camera, zoom techniques and aperture and shutter control. He also uses a few filters.

The Fine Arts Gallery is located inside the entrance to the Fine Arts Building on the UW-Sheboygan campus and is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
