Feldmann leads Resorters to BEC Tourney win

HOWARDS GROVE – Senior forward Emma Feldmann’s 15 points and nine rebounds sparked the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters to a 53-39 win over Sheboygan Lutheran in the 11th-place game of the Big East Conference Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday morning at Lakeland College.

Feldmann also had five steals which shared the team lead with Sonia Schubert. Schubert chipped in with 11 points for the Resorters who improved to 8-13. The Crusaders dropped to 5-17.

“It was nice to see the girls get a win in the BEC Tournament. They have played so hard the previous two games [in losses to Random Lake, and St. Mary Catholic of Neenah] and just came up short,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

“I have said many times, the effort is always there – we just are unable to finish games. Saturday they finished the job. I am very proud of all of them – both players and coaches.”

The Resorters had an impressive 22 steals. Camrie Schmitz and Rachael Flora contributed four each. Schubert had a team-high four assists.

Elkhart broke the game open in the second half by outscoring the Crusaders 32-21, led by Feldmann and Schubert with nine points each.

Dacota Weigert paced Lutheran’s scoring with 12.
