Resorters routed in BEC Tourney consolation game

Mishicot mounted a 50-26 halftime lead en route to an 84-41 rout over the the visiting Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters in the first round of the Big East Conference Boys Basketball Tournament consolation bracket Tuesday night.

The loss dropped the Resorters’ record to 2-18. Elkhart will play at Kohler Thursday, Feb. 18 in the 13th-place game at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Caleb Broaddus led EL-G in scoring with 14 points. Owen Kalbacken had a team-high 16 rebounds.

The Indians, 6-14, poured in eight three-pointers. Mishicot had a balanced attack with five players scoring in double figures.


The Resorters lost their firstround tourney game to Cedar Grove- Belgium, 72-30, Friday night at Cedar Grove.

The Rockets, who led 46-12 at halftime, were led in scoring by Reid Hilbelink and Josh Weiss with 18 each.

Kalbacken paced EL-G on offense with 12 points and Broaddus added eight. Kalbacken led in boards with 11.

“Our mental approach and physical preparation were unacceptable. I am responsible for putting a competitive team on the floor and we were far from that,” said Resorter head coach Ray Mlada.
