Reinemann wins medal at state ski meet

The state meet was held Feb. 6-7 at the Telemark Trails in Cable. The event included high school boys and girls races, and middle school boys and girls competition.

Reinemann, a freshman at Sheboygan North, led the Nordic Storm in the overall girls competition with an 18th-place finish which included skate and classic races, both 6.6 kilometers long. She took 23rd in the classic race. Her overall pursuit time was 49 minutes, 13.7 seconds over 13.2 kilometers.

Abby Jarzin of Ashwaubenon was the overall girls champion in 41:32.4. The girls competition included 106 skiers.

Alex Kleiber from Plymouth led the Nordic Storm in the boys high school meet with an overall finish of 66th in 46:39.8. The boys’ competition also included classic and skate races – each 6.6 kilometers.

The overall boys winner in a field of 132 racers was Lakeland’s Mack Fitzpatrick in 35:43.3.

Lakeland won the 15-team boys meet with 11 points, followed by Ashwaubenon with 24. Nordic Storm finished 15th with 179.

Ashwaubenon was the girls champion with nine points. Wausau United Nordic was the runner-up at 33. Nordic Storm captured 12th with 130 in the 13-team field.

Ethan Joseph of Plymouth was the Nordic Storm’s top finisher in the boys middle school meet with 18th overall in 25:39.2. The boys and girls middle school competition included classic and skate races of 3.3 kilometers each.

The overall winner for the boys was Garrett Walters of Chippewa Valley Nordic in 20:38.1. The boys field had 78 skiers.

Abby Moore of Elkhart Lake paced the Nordic Storm in the middle school girls racing with an overall finish of 40th in 33:34.6. The overall champion was Mia Case of Lakeland in 23:17.8. Sixty-three girls competed.
