MARGARET T. KALIES

Margaret T. “Marge” Kalies, 84, of the Town of Plymouth, WIpassed away early Friday morning (Feb. 26, 2016) at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 27, 1932 in Kiel, WI, a daughter of the late Gregor and Dora (Foertsch) Fleisner.

She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950.

On April 7, 1951, she married Robert Kalies Jr. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The couple has resided in the Town of Plymouth since the marriage.

Marge worked at the A&P Company for a short time in Plymouth.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. She was actively involved in the family farm, gardening, canning, baking and making her traditional homemade candies for the family at Christmas time. She enjoyed sewing, playing bingo, working on puzzles and always had time for a game of cards with the family.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years: Robert of the Town of Plymouth; children: Kathleen (Jack) Prettie of the Town of Plymouth, Robert (Mary Lou) Kalies of the Town of Plymouth, Monica (Larry) Krieski of Town of Sheboygan Falls, Richard (Marie) Kalies of Denmark, WI, Virginia Bowen of Greendale and Nancy (Todd) Guse of Town of Plymouth; thirteen grandchildren: Jeffrey Prettie of Town of Plymouth, Nicholas Kalies of Town of Plymouth (Friend: Cristina Raish), Christine (Mike) DeBruine of Town of Rhine, Andrea (Daniel) Trott of Citrus Springs, FL, Shane Krieski of Rib Lake, WI, Jason (Laura) Kalies of Apple Valley, MN, Sara Kalies (fiance Dr. James Morgan) of Wytheville, VA, Michael Bowen of Greendale, Margaret “Maggie” Bowen of Greendale, Nathaniel Guse (fi- ancee Colie Roman) of State College, PA, Matthew Guse (fiancee Samantha Mohr) of Oshkosh, WI and Nicole Guse of Town of Plymouth; four great grandchildren: Taylor, Evalyn, Lena and Breckyn.

She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Patricia Prettie; three brothers: Norbert, Gregory and Roland Fleisner; four sisters: Dorothy Zimmerman, Genevieve Ehlenbeck, Irene Hoefler and Isabel Schultz.

Following Marge’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held. Inurnment will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Marge’s name.
